I’m sorry about my lack of posting lately. I’ve been pretty busy, and I’m not much a fan of the new WordPress layout. it’s FAAARRR too cluttered.

I’ve been going through some of my writing from since I’ve had the MacBook. This one thought really and truly sticks out, and it is a question that I pose to you.

“What if you found what you were looking for, only to realize that it is not what you wanted?”

I’ve been watching Star Trek: The Next Generation quite a bit lately, and I just wanted to post a short blurb to state my happiness with Wesley Crusher’s character. Many people are harsh and judgmental towards Wil Wheaton’s acting of Wesley, and Mr. Wheaton in general, but I think it’s brilliant.
First off, it’s a way to get kids into the show. If a fan of TOS is watching TNG when it originally airs, and their kids are in the room, maybe they’ll stay in the room and watch the show. Which gets them attached to it on a weekly basis. And thus it builds the fan base. On top of that, they’ll keep watching the show, and THEIR children will start to watch it, and so on.

Plus the lessons which they teach through Crusher. Things about love, responsibility, friendship and leadership. I dunno. I really just wanted to share that with you. I think he’s a fantastic character, and quite meaningful, as opposed to what many people think or say.
I think that The Next Generation has managed to breathe life past when it was originally aired. A blog friend wrote a post on this topic, and it can be found here.

You can count on the fact that I’ll be writing more on The Next Generation, as I continue through the rest of the series.

“I’d just like things to go back to the way they were before.”
Have you ever really thought about this phrase, and the fact that in itself, it is an oxymoron?
Because things are never the way they were before. it is impossible. People change, even over a period of a few days, enough so that things will never really be the same.
That is the purpose of humanity, to be constantly changing, evolving, becoming better.
it is impossible.
yet how often do we wonder to ourselves if things will ever just be the way they were before?

When a person leaves for college, they leave behind the life they once knew. Nothing, and I do mean NOTHING will ever be the same Similarly, I think when people graduate college, it is a change of that sort. Nothing will be the same. Yet these are merely extreme examples. How friends relate to each other changes over time too. People can grow together, and people can grow apart.

And that’s where I have my issue.
because I HATE growing apart from friends. Granted, there are some times when it is easier than others. Not being in the same general vicinity has been always been some kind of factor.
But the friends I have now… I NEVER want to lose them. It’s such a fabulous and elite group of people.
I love them all, each in a very unique way, all very platonic.

Just in case you’ve been wondering, my lack of posting doesn’t mean that I’ve abandoned this blog. I just been busy with other stuff. I’ve watched the first two seasons of Psych, and I’m about halfway through the first season of Eureka. I’ve also almost completed Ender’s Game for my sci-fi class, and am about to complete The Time Machine. I have some critical thinking question things that I need to post my answers for in regards to Looking Backwards. I’ll get to that sometime this week. And also be on the lookout for a post about sci-fi show cancellations.

So I watched the first season of Jericho during finals week. It was different. I haven’t really watched too much post-apocalyptic science-fiction, or at least not any that picks up directly after the event.
Jericho’s characters are quite interesting, however, I don’t feel like this show really picks up until about 12 episodes in.
After I checked the DVDs out from the library, I found the entire first season on YouTube. You can watch the first season of Jericho at http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=D9B106198C36985E&page=1 . I really don’t have as much to say about this show a week ago when I first saw it all. I’m very sad it’s been this long, because it was a pretty cool show.
I’m looking forward to seeing the second season, short though it may be. I have hopes that at some point in the near future, CBS will do something to either revive it, or close off any storylines that may have been left open. Because a season and a half is FARRRR too short for something like Jericho.

So I’ve begun “The Time Machine” by H.G. Wells, for my sci-fi class.
it’s a VERY different style of writing. I feel like Bellamy was a lot more passive in his writing. it was calm and peaceful, it flowed smoothly. Wells work is a lot harsher and more aggressive. I think that the tone of the writing donates to the feel of the work. Bellamy is writing about a utopia – a peaceful happy place, where everything is as it should be. Wells work is about an uncertain future where strife and war dominate everything.

Just something I’ve noticed in the first two chapters or so of Wells.

As far as school goes, I’m essentially done with all my assignments – aside from printing them and turning them in.
Today in English we’re supposed to watch the Glenn Close movie “Dangerous Liaisons.”

So I just watched this weeks episode of Heroes – The Eclipse, pt II.
I have to say that I am somewhat disappointed. The characters are going nowhere. They are merely repeating over and over again what has already been done. “Save the cheerleader, save the world.” There is only so many times that a plotline or tagline can work. And this is one that has been WAYYYY over-used. Heroes saw a great period of time with fabulous writing in the first season, when the writers didn’t take it seriously. When the writers started taking it seriously, it went downhill. It went further downhill when the writers strike happened. At the beginning of the third season we saw an uprise. However, since the last time they looked to the future (when Matt saw himself with Daphne, etc), the writing has been falling apart. Not to mention that some of the acting is getting poorer in quality.

Maybe I would like it better if it weren’t all pixelated when I watch it.

So of course, the day that I wrote a post about Edward Cullen, my stats shot through the roof (relatively speaking). That makes me laugh. You should all read Rose’s article about Edward Cullen. I thought it was pretty good.

Anyways, over Thanksgiving break, I began watching Stargate: Atlantis. The idea is kind of interesting. I liked John Sheppard’s character. Rodney McKay has a LOT of potential as a character also, but he needs an attitude adjustment first. I am going to stick with it for awhile, but if it’s completely horrid for a LONG time, then I am going to move on to something else.

I have been progressing with Edward Bellamy’s Looking Backwards. It is starting to feel a bit repetitive, but overall, it is fairly decent. I am going to be so happy to be finally done with it. It seems that any imaginable utopia is very socialist in nature.
Speaking of Utopia, I have an essay to write on it. So I’m gonna go do that now.
