The Time Machine

So I’ve begun “The Time Machine” by H.G. Wells, for my sci-fi class.
it’s a VERY different style of writing. I feel like Bellamy was a lot more passive in his writing. it was calm and peaceful, it flowed smoothly. Wells work is a lot harsher and more aggressive. I think that the tone of the writing donates to the feel of the work. Bellamy is writing about a utopia – a peaceful happy place, where everything is as it should be. Wells work is about an uncertain future where strife and war dominate everything.

Just something I’ve noticed in the first two chapters or so of Wells.

As far as school goes, I’m essentially done with all my assignments – aside from printing them and turning them in.
Today in English we’re supposed to watch the Glenn Close movie “Dangerous Liaisons.”

One Response to “The Time Machine”

  1. This may seem odd, but I tend to like stories depicting a grim future better. I feel like they teach us more, and in many cases turn out to be shockingly right. They wake us up to what’s going on around us better. I like books that are honest. And sadly the happy ones don’t seem to be as honest as the grim ones.
